LAFAYETTE —
Richard “Doc” Petersen, 60, Lafayette, formerly Royal Center and Logansport, passed away suddenly Wednesday, March 13, 2013, in Chicago.
Born Aug. 22, 1952, in Amarillo, Texas, he was the son of Donald and Claudia (Weast) Petersen.
He was a U.S. Air Force veteran serving in Vietnam.
Doc was a truck driver for Hardebeck Trucking Company, Monticello. He was a member of ABATE and several other motorcycle clubs. Doc was an avid Harley Davidson fan who enjoyed riding his motorcycle with his son, and riding to Sturgis every year with his “brothers.” He was also an avid Nascar and Dallas Cowboy fan.
Survivors include his son, Gabriel Petersen (Halie) and their children, Jaisyn and Kobi, all of Loganport, mother, Claudia Petersen, Texas, sister, Laura Petersen, N.C., and stepchildren, Trevor Landrum, West Lafayette, and Brianna Landrum, Logansport.
He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Petersen.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. Saturday at Marocco-Rans Funeral Chapel until the service at 2 p.m. Burial with military rites will be at Mount Hope Cemetery.
There will be a celebration carry-in at the Logansport VFW following the burial service.
