ALDEN, N.Y. —
The Rev. Wilbur R. Freed, 85, Alden, N.Y., was called home to be with his heavenly father Wednesday, Feb. 20, in the year of our Lord A.D. 2013.
On Thanksgiving Day in 1956, he was joined in marriage to his wife Rosemary and they have celebrated 56 years together.
Dear father of Katherine (Mike) Stewart, Renne’ (Mathew) Will and Tammy (James) Fong; grandfather of Benjamin and Kaitlyn Fong and Karen and Samuel Will.
There was a visitation at the Charles Meyer Funeral Home, Alden, N.Y., and a funeral service at Town Line Lutheran Church Alden, N.Y., in February. Interment was in South Scott Cemetery, Angola, Ind.
The Rev. Freed was born in the south side of Chicago on Oct. 25, 1927, the son of the late Charles and Merville Freed. After graduating from Hyde Park High School, Chicago, he joined the U.S. Army with duty assignment in small arms repair. During his 10 1/2 years in the Army, he served in Belgium, the Berlin airlift, Korea and Italy. Wilbur, a retired Lutheran Pastor, graduated from the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago Maywood Campus in 1964. His years of ministry were spent in Milan and Walton, Ind. He was a member of Town Line Lutheran Church, Alden, N.Y., and a member of the VFW Post 7967 in Alden.
