West Melbourne, Fla. —
Susan R. Hayes, 65, West Melbourne, Fla., formerly of Logansport, passed away at 12:20 p.m. Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, in Wuesthoff Medical Center, Melbourne.
Born March 8, 1947, in Logansport, she was the daughter of Gayle and Winifred E. Skelton Smith. Her father survives, residing in Logansport.
On Jan. 7, 1966, she was married to Joseph Hayes, who survives in West Melbourne, Fla.
A 1965 graduate of Logansport High School, Sue had been employed as a nursing assistant at Logansport Memorial Hospital, telephone operator at General Telephone and in the dietary department at the Logansport State Hospital.
In addition to her husband and father, she is survived by sons, Aaron (Lacey) Hayes, Logansport, and Thomas Hayes, West Melbourne, Fla.; daughter, Elizabeth (Jerald) LaOrange, Logansport; brothers, Joseph (Carolyn) Smith, Greentown and John Smith (Pat Hoover), Logansport; and sister, Gail (Alan) Kaufman, Logansport.
Also surviving are grandchildren, Madison LaOrange, Nicolas LaOrange, Michael Cogswell and Matthew Cogswell, as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Winifried E. Smith.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Kroeger Funeral Home with the Rev. Dominic Petan officiating. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery, Cass County. Visitation will be from noon until 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
