Alvin Baker

LOGANSPORT — Alvin Baker, 80, Logansport, was called home to his Maker at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, in the St. Vincent Heart Hospital, Indianapolis.

Born March 14, 1932, in Headlee, Ind., he was the son of George and Theresa Rex Baker. On May 1, 1965, in Spring Creek Christian Church, he was married to Virginia Ulerick Baker, who survives. The couple met while working together at GenCorp Automotive.

Alvin was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean War.

He was retired from General Tire, where he worked for many years as a tool and die maker. Following his retirement, he worked for Dexter’s Pharmacy.

He was a member of the Christ’s Church, Logansport.

Surviving with his wife are son Kraig Baker and his wife Jennifer and their children, Ali, Kameron and Claire, all of Danville; daughter Mindy Eisenbise and her daughter, Amber, Logansport; daughter Mary Leazenby and her children, Rosie, James, Danielle, Zephyrine and Austin, Logansport; and son Chad Jacobs and his wife Alisa and their children, Kady, Sadie, Madisyn, Fayth, Emma and Andy, all of Delphi; three brothers, Lester Baker of Monon, Ora Baker and his wife Alberta, Medaryville, and Charles Leroy Baker and his wife Martha, Walton; one sister, Iona Haskins, Monticello; and one sister-in-law, Alice Bake, Irving, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.  

He was preceded in death by four brothers, Delmar, Chester, Harold and Grover; and one sister, Fern Jordan.

A praise service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Fisher Funeral Chapel with Pastor Stuart Rose officiating.

Following the service, a visitation for family and friends will be from 3 to 5 p.m.

Private family graveside rites will be conducted Saturday morning in Spring Creek Christian Cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Lower Caribbean Christian Mission, in care of Ernest Grigby, 1181 Seldom Seen Drive, Lawrenceburg, IN 47025, or to a favorite charity. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.
