MONTICELLO —
Clyde E. Tribbett, 82, Monticello, died at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, at his residence.
He was born Nov. 20, 1930, in Jackson Township in White County to the late Charles Parker and Maude (Helvie) Tribbett. His marriage was to M. Joyce Downey on March 24, 1950, in Joyce’s parents’ home in Buffalo. She survives in Monticello.
Mr. Tribbett farmed and raised hogs for 31 years and also retired from the Department of Transportation. He was an active member of the White Oak United Methodist church for over 50 years, where he held many offices, but most recently, he attended Zion Bethel Church in Monticello. Mr. Tribbett had been a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, formerly of Winamac. He served on the White County Farm Bureau Board of Directors. He drove a school bus for Pioneer School Corporation for a number of years. He enjoyed vegetable gardening and fishing.
He is also survived by a daughter, Susan Starbuck of Honolulu, Hawaii; three sons, Lyle (Dianna) Tribbett of Monon, Jeffery (Cynthia) Tribbett of the Buffalo area, Dr. Charles (Darla) Tribbett of Monticello; three brothers, Roy (Annettie) Tribbett of Battle Creek, Mich., Paul (Violet) Tribbett of Kingman, Ariz., and Patrick (Genevieve) Tribbett of Centennial, Colo.; sister, Donna (Brock) Courtice of Royal Center; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and an uncle, Bob Tribbett of Logansport.
He was preceded in death by twin sons, Donald and Ronald Tribbett; brother, Byron (Anna) Tribbett; and grandson, Rusty Tribbett.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the church with his grandson, Pastor Gabe Tribbett, officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview IOOF cemetery in rural Monticello.
Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. today at Zion Bethel Church, 415 S. Third St., Monticello, and also one hour prior to service on Monday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Gideons or White County Council on Aging. Envelopes will be available at the church.
