Verlin Arlo Moon

LUCERNE — Verlin Arlo Moon, 85, Lucerne, passed away Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, at Chase Nursing and Rehab Center, Logansport.

Born Dec. 20, 1927, in Logansport, he was the son of Walter and Ruth (Swank) Moon. On Aug. 12, 1945, he married Marilyn J.(Spencer) Moon, who survives.

He was a World War II Navy veteran. Verlin was a farmer and worked many years at Gearhart Feed Mill. He was retired from Wilson Food. He attended the Corinth Brethren Church and was a member of the Royal Center Masonic Lodge No. 585. A devoted husband, father and grandfather, he spent his spare time woodworking in his shop.

Verlin was the father of three children, Pamela Hines of Royal Center, John (Carolyn) Moon of Peru and Nancy (Phillip) Carter of Frankfort. He also shared his love with 11 grandchildren, Debra Carlson, Dennis Hines, Teresa Small, John Hines, Timothy Hines, Aaron Hines, Brian, Brad, and Brent Moon, Drew Carter and D.J. Carter; seven great-grandsons, one great-granddaughter and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brothers Hollys, Wendell and Merrill Moon, sister Waneta Herrell and son-in-law Bill Hines.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at McClain Funeral Home, Denver, with visitation one hour before the service. Burial will follow at Corinth Cemetery, Twelve Mile.

Visitation will also be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday at McClain Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Cancer Society, Heart Foundation, Kidney Foundation or charity of choice.
