PERU —
LeRoy Wayne Russell, 84, Peru, formerly of Logansport, died peacefully and joined the Lord at 2:10 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2, 2012, at the Blair Ridge Health Campus in Peru.
He was born Aug. 6, 1928, in Cass County, the son of Arthur and Lillian Noble Russell. He was married Sept. 26, 1954, in Miami Baptist Church to Carol Sue Sherman.
He retired in 1982 after 32 years of service for Rockwell International. Mr. Russell was a 1949 graduate of Logansport High School, a member of the Miami Baptist Church, and a veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of American Legion Post 60.
Survivors include his wife, Carol Sue Russell, Peru; a son, Tim Russell and wife, Terri, Logansport; two daughters, Debra Swartz and husband, Scott, and Karen Buffum and husband, Tim, all of Logansport; grandchildren, Jonathan Russell and wife, Christy, Royal Center, Shanan Pletka and husband, Bryan, Logansport, Jared Russell and fiancée, Lauren Martin, Clymers, Tommy Buffum and wife, Cyndi, Logansport, Laura Russell, Logansport, and Travis Buffum, Logansport; great-grandchildren, Jamison Russell, Royal Center, Ariane Russell, California, and Jillian Russell, Royal Center; brothers, Don Russell, Logansport, and Paul Russell, Logansport; sister, Margaret Atchinson, Griffin, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews.
Three sisters, Betty Dell, Maxine Stigers and a stillborn infant, and three brothers, Bobby Russell, James Russell and Arthur Russell, preceded him in death.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Gundrum Funeral Home, with Rev. Frankie Tomlinson officiating. Burial with full military graveside rites will be in Miami Baptist Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Miami Baptist Church Building Fund or Gideon Bibles.
