Barbara E. Darland

LINCOLN — Barbara E. Darland, 82, Lincoln, passed away at 10:35 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 21, 2012, at Northwood Village Nursing Home.

Born Feb. 17, 1930, in Kokomo, she was the daughter of Lester O. and Daisy L . Stanton Barker. She was married June 30, 1946, in Lincoln, to Donald A. Darland, who survives.

She helped with Cub Scouts and was a band mother for Lewis Cass for many years. She enjoyed cooking and crocheting, she loved family and friends, she was the best pie maker ever, and she loved to laugh. She and her husband, Don, loved all children and took many into their home.

Surviving are her husband, Donald Darland, Lincoln; children, Mary and husband, Spencer Brown, Washington, Lois Darland, Lincoln, Butch Darland and companion (Stacy Stoyke), Galveston, Judith Darland, Lincoln, and Terry Darland and companion (Dana Elzbeck), Lincoln; grandchildren, Jennifer and husband, Shane Fellows, Carlsbad, Calif., Jessica Brown, Saudi Arabia, J. Michael Brown, and companion (Claire Kaiser), Washington, Jason and Kristie Darland, Galveston, Bill and Sara Shanks, Florida, Kyrie and Glen Cooper, Peru, Erika Hollis, Lafayette, and Dustin Elzbeck, Lincoln; great-grandchildren, Nakoa Fellows, Alexis and Jerrud Darland, Joelle and Noah Shanks, Alan, Lydia and Lakota Cooper, Ayvin Elzbeck and Echo Hollis; and brother, Loren (Alice) Barker, Michigan.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers; two sisters; and one great-grandchild, Bo Cooper.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Galveston Cemetery, Galveston, with Pastor Roy Ice officiating.     

Murray Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston is in charge of arrangements.
