Neva June Crooks

LOGANSPORT — Neva June Crooks, 102, Logansport, passed away at 2 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, 2012, in Miller’s Merry Manor.

Born June 29, 1910, in Carroll County, she was the daughter of the late James and Rosa Lowe Rienier. On Sept. 26, 1926, she was married to Robert Kelly Heiland, who preceded her in death July 10, 1934. She was married April 26, 1935, in Delphi, to Richard Crooks, who preceded her in death May 31, 1985.

A homemaker, Neva had worked as a seamstress at the H.W. Gossard Company for many years.

Neva attended the Metea Baptist Church. She was known for her beautiful quilting, and she was a fantastic cook. She also enjoyed playing cards.

Surviving are two daughters, Lois Measel and her husband Charles, Monticello, and Betty Wright of Logansport, daughter-in-law, Ellouise Heiland, Kokomo; one cousin, Vivian Knepper, Logansport; grandchildren, Nancy Surantt, Illinois, Becky Smith, Frankfort, Kelly Heiland, Galveston, Kim Beck, Loganpsort, Ed Beck, Logansport, Don Beck, Young America, Tom Raderstorf, Ohio; several great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son, Richard Heiland; a brother, Loren Rienier; a sister, Marie Elston; son-in-law, Larry Wright; and grandson David Raderstorf.

A funeral service will be at 2:30 p.m. today at Fisher Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow in the Metea Cemetery.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Sunday in the funeral chapel.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like to suggest that you visit a relative or friend in a nursing home and brighten their day. Memorial contributions may also be made to a favorite charity.
