Alice Jane Lowry

Alice Jane Lowry, 87, Logansport, passed away at 1:50 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013, in Logansport Memorial Hospital.

Born Oct. 15, 1925, in Logansport, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Hazel Morgason Shaver. On Sept. 21, 1947, in the Baptist Temple, she was married to Edward Lowry, who preceded her in death Oct. 1, 2012.

Alice was a member of Baptist Temple. Knitting was not only her favorite pastime, it was a way of using her talents in service to her Lord. Alice knitted over 500 sweaters which were sent to Third World countries, touching lives all across the globe.

She was retired from RBM and White Rogers.

Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Craig and Jennifer Lowry, Columbus, and Kurt and Laurie Lowry, Mishawaka; five grandchildren, Christan, Sarah, Natalie, Jacob and Isaac; and six great-grandchildren, Micah, Liam, Ruth, Regan, Wyatt and Crosby.

She was preceded in death by two brothers George and Arthur Shaver; and one sister Mildred.

A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Fisher Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Howard Wade officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount Hope Cemetery. Friends may call from 11:30 a.m. Saturday until the time of the service in the funeral chapel.
