Edna L. Nitzschke, 86, Logansport, passed away at 9:40 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013, in her residence.
Born Aug. 15, 1926, she was the daughter of Isaac and Lillian Wisley Nickelson. On March 12, 1947, Edna was married to Virgil V. Nitzschke, who preceded her in death on Oct. 12, 1973.
A 1946 graduate of Grass Creek High School, Edna had been a nurse’s aide for 15 years at St. Joseph Hospital in Logansport. She loved to read, play bingo, boating and tubing. She loved being with her family, especially the family gatherings at the Christmas holiday.
She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
Surviving are son, Dave Nitzschke, daughter, Linda (Carl) Gibbs, all of Logansport, sister, Waudene Bookwalter, Twelve Mile, grandchildren, David (Tonya) Gibbs, Greenwood, Jenny (Jeff) Bell, Walton, and six great-grandchildren.
Preceding Edna in death were sons, Raymond Nitzschke and Delbert Nitzschke, sisters, Lanita Scales and Edith Ysberg, and brothers, William Nickelson, Arthur Nickelson and Glen Nickelson.
The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Kroeger Funeral Home, with Chaplain Ken Rushing officiating. Burial will be in Zion Cemetery in Lucerne.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today, at Kroeger Funeral Home, where a VFW Ladies Auxiliary service will be held at 5:30 p.m.
