Ruth I. Likens

AUBURN — Ruth I. Likens, 80, Auburn, formerly Waterloo, passed away Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013, at Wesley Health Care, Auburn.

She was born in Carroll County on August 17, 1932, to Roy and Maude Davis.

She graduated from Camden High School, Camden, and attended International Business College in Fort Wayne. She then worked at the former Home Telephone and Telegraph Company, Fort Wayne, for five years as a stenographer. She was an Elementary School Secretary for DeKalb Central Schools for 32 years, 10 years at Waterloo Elementary, and 22 years at McIntosh Elementary in Auburn, retiring in 1997. She then volunteered at the Heimach Center as a receptionist and then for the Heimach Center Farm Wagon, retiring in 2010.    

She married Max E. Likens on Sept. 11, 1954, in Angola. He preceded her in death on Oct. 8, 1981. She was also preceded in death by her parents, brother, Dean Davis, Logansport, brother, Clyde Davis, Burnettsville, and sister, Helen Christy, Centralia, Wash. and her son, Scott Likens, on Nov. 19, 2011.

Surviving are two sons, Mark (Lori) Likens, New Bremen, Ohio, and Marty Likens, Aurora, Colo., grandchildren, April (John) Shaver, Tampa, Fla., Brooke (Josh) Shell, New Albany, Ohio, Brian (Tanya) Likens, Montpelier, Ohio, Kristi (Dustin Harlan) Likens, Auburn, and Luke Likens, Aurora, Colo., two step-grandchildren, Audrey (Jeff) Thobe, New Bremen, Ohio, and Adam Micheal, Tampa, Fla. and two great-grandchildren, Donovin Scott Harlan and Cooper James Harlan.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, Auburn, with visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday prior to the service. Dr. Robert Craig will be officiating. Burial will be in Waterloo Cemetery, Waterloo.

Visitation will also be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to Youth for Christ.
