Beatrice “Bib” Springer

Beatrice “Bib” Springer, 80, Logansport, passed away at 7:08 a.m. Monday, Feb. 25, 2013, in Chase Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Logansport.

Born Aug. 20, 1932, in Tarrant City, Ala., she was the daughter of the late William Kennedy Blake Sr. and the late Nancy Marie Mayer Blake. She was married in 1950 to Thomas Ivey Springer Jr. who preceded in death in 1987.

She graduated as salutatorian of her senior class at Ozark High School, Ala. She moved to Indiana from Mobile, Ala. six years ago. Bib was retired and had worked as a property manager for several years. She had previously worked as a real estate office manager and a substitute teacher.

Having been raised as a Presbyterian pastor’s daughter, Bib moved several times during her life.

She would find the local library and the Chamber of Commerce and immerse herself in her new hometown. Reading was her passion and she surrounded herself with books. Bib was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed gardening.

She was an excellent fisherman who grew up spending Sunday afternoons fishing with her Daddy and her brother. Bib’s love of music filled her home.

She enjoyed playing the piano and painting.

A true southern lady with the gift of hospitality, she loved to entertain family and friends.

Surviving are two daughters, Nancy Springer Prine, Mobile, and Margaret Springer Murray and her husband Michael, Logansport, three grandchildren, Nici (Brad) Lowell, Casey (Beth) Prine, all of Mobile, and Tyler Rector, Indianapolis, four great-grandchildren, Taylor Marie Lowell, Ally Grace Lowell, Cooper Allen Prine, and Addison Blake Prine, all of Mobile, two step-grandchildren, Christopher Murray, Logansport, and Jennifer (Dustin) Walker, Peru, four step-great-grandchildren, Kaia Murray, Emalynn Murray, Bella Walker and Isaiah Walker, brother, William Kennedy Blake Jr. and his wife Mary, Birmingham, niece, Bari Blake, Marietta, Ga. and nephew, Billy Blake, Birmingham.

A gathering of family and friends will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Murray home, 1717 East County Road, 100 N., Logansport.

A memorial service will be conducted in Alabama at a later date.

Expressions of sympathy may be made in Bib’s memory to the Logansport/Cass County Public Library or the church or charity of the donor’s choice.
