A. Irene Brugh

A. Irene Brugh, 88, Logansport, died at 2:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013, at Miller’s Merry Manor.

Born Feb. 29, 1924, in Logansport, she was the daughter of Agnes and Charles Murphy. On Nov. 12, 1942, in Baltimore, Md., she was married to Charles A. Brugh, who preceded her in death.

Irene is survived by her 10 loving children, Carolyn (Bill) Henderson, Jim (Mercedes) Brugh, Mike (LeAnne) Brugh, Barbara (David) Stein, Phillip Brugh, Becky Hinkle, Suzy (Mark) Wamsley, Bill Brugh, Nancy (Dean) Pugh, and Bridget Brugh.

She was the devoted grandmother of 29 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

Irene was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Melissa, her husband, Charles, and three beautiful grandsons, Andy Brugh, Brad Henderson and Paul Kerns. Also preceding her were two delightful great-grandsons, Jake and Varnell, who lost their battle with cystic fibrosis.

Irene has three sisters, Mary Brindle, who preceded her in death, two surviving sisters, Teresa Barlow and Margaret (Peggy) Nies. Irene was a pioneer in starting her own business before that was a normal endeavor for women with children. She was a very creative and talented window treatment designer and seamstress and worked with numerous clientele including The Golden Rule, Discher Furniture, Gray Mill, Partridge, and many interior designers in this area. Many homes and businesses in Logansport were graced with her talents.

A Funeral Mass for Irene Brugh will be at 10 a.m. Friday at All Saints Catholic Church with Father Mike McKinney officiating. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Kroeger Funeral Home.
