Jerry Lee Blue

Jerry Lee Blue died at 1:15 p.m. March 3, 2013, at the age of 83.

Jerry was born Nov. 6, 1929, to Fred and Dot Blue in Carrolton Township, Carroll County, Ind. He had a sister Anne (deceased) married to Amos Spangler, Logansport, and has a brother, Fred, married to Janis, Kokomo.

Jerry graduated from Carrollton High School in 1947. Serving in the United States Army, 8th Infantry Division, Jerry was honorably discharged at the rank of CPL. In 1953, he married the love of his life, Mary Louise Yeakley who survives, Deer Creek. They set up house-keeping and raised three children on the family farm; Robert, married to Roberta, Delphi, Mary Ann, married to Vince Gotera Cedar Falls, Iowa, David, married Karen, Logansport. Grandchildren, Liddia (Ian) Clift, Rochester, Minn., Abby (Mathew) Gould, Boone, N.C., Marty (Grace) Gotera, Germany, Amanda, Austin, Texas, Amelia, Melina and Gabriel, Cedar Falls, Iowa, Dane and Austin, Elkhart, Madison, South Bend. Also, great-grandchildren, Adyson, Owen and Mara, Rochester, Minn.

Jerry, “Mose,” enjoyed playing basketball, fast-pitch softball, hunting and trapping. He was active in the Deer Creek Presbyterian Church, REMC at local and state levels, Democrat Party and served on the Carroll Consolidated School Board. He was a naturalist who studied the outdoors, from trees and their occupants to flowers and their insects. But mostly he loved to fish, and fished to live. A farmer for most of his life, Jerry and Mary owned and operated the Wildcat Creek Bed and Breakfast in Cutler for the past 16 years. They have enjoyed guests from 37 states and 17 countries. He never met a stranger.

Jerry had a sense of humor and was a man of his word and loved people. His life will be celebrated at the Adam’s Mill near Cutler at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 25. Family and friends are invited.

Arrangements have been entrusted with Stout & Son Funeral Home, Burlington.
