Juanita S. Johnson

KEWANNA — Juanita S. Johnson, 71, Kewanna, passed away at 4:45 p.m. Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

Born Jan. 24, 1942, in Vanceburg, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Burdick and Catherine (Rurak) Hughes. On Jan. 31, 1958, she married Frank H. Johnson. He preceded her in death March 31, 2012.

Juanita formerly worked at Federal Mogul in Leiters Ford for more than 20 years. She also formerly worked at Abie’s Market in Kewanna and Braun’s in Leiters Ford.

She enjoyed taking care of flowers, quilting and shopping. She especially loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include her children, Sheila G. Seidel (Allen), Winamac, Donna A. Dugan (Robert Rans), Kewanna, Julia F. Brainerd, Warsaw, and Frank H. Johnson (Wendi), Rensselaer, brothers, Meredith Hughes, Vanceburg, Ky., Ronnie Hughes, Melbourne, Ky., Douglas Hughes, Butler, Ohio, sisters, Ethel Sullivan, Garrison, Ky., Wanda Edington, Vanceburg, Ky., Mattie K. Barbour, Maysville, Ky., Barbara Hughes, Vanceburg, Ky., and Brenda Rand, Norwood, Ohio. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Hope, Jessica, Gavin, Brock, Bobby, Peggy Sue, David, Brenna and Holly and great-grandchildren, Kennedy, Graysen, Jackson, Alli, Alexis, Kylie, Aubrie, Carter, Laynie, Kailee and Paisley. She is also survived by her beloved dog, P.J.

She was also preceded in death by son-in-law, Richard Brainerd, grandson, Tavin and brothers, William Hughes and George Hughes.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Harrison-Metzger and Rans Funeral Home, Kewanna Chapel, with Chaplain Jason See officiating. Burial will be at Bruce Lake Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association or Hope Hospice.
