Nellie Pearl Bruce Powell, 91, Logansport, passed away at 1:08 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013, at her residence.
Born Jan. 4, 1922, in Rockfield, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Bessie (Benefield) Bruce. On Feb. 14, 1938, she married Lonnie C. Powell, he survives.
She was a homemaker who liked to sew, read, listen to music, playing the organ and she loved to play with all her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Nellie also enjoyed reading poems, traveling, making sugar cream pies and rocking all her babies. She is a member of Wheatland Avenue United Methodist Church and a former member of Rockfield Christian Church.
Survivors include her husband of 75 years, Lonnie C. Powell, Logansport, her children, James Powell (Cherrie), Sellersburg, Joyce Likens, Logansport, Rita Bonnell, Logansport, Dennis Powell, Logansport, Thomas Powell (Lisa), Logansport and Anthony Powell, Logansport, nine grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Harve, Charles, Lewis and Floyd Bruce, sister, Jennie Stull and son-in-laws, Phil Likens and Jerry Bonnell.
Service will be private. Burial will be at Ever Rest Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Marocco-Rans Funeral Chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, American Alzheimer’s Association and/or Great Lakes Hospice.
