PERU —
Nancy Sahaidachny, 89, Peru, suffered from dementia for 10 years and at 1:15 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 6, 2012, she died at her home in the arms of her daughter, Helen, who was her caregiver for the duration of her illness.
She was born in Ukraine, where she married the love of her life, John Sahaidachny, who died in October 1989. They moved to Peru from Germany in October 1950.
Her parents, Kondrat Tschiniak and Nina Fititschenko Tschiniak, preceded her in death, as did several of her siblings.
Nancy is survived by her children, Helen Sauer, Mary Ritter, Nicholas Sahaidachny and his wife, Beth, and Peter Sahaidachny; her grandchildren, Dr. Stephen Sauer, Gary Ritter, Dodie Ritter Georges, Cassie Ritter Good, Marcie Ritter Koenig, Rachel Sahaidachny, Karena Sahaidachny and Pete (PJ) Sahaidachny and spouse, Jessica Kaihoil; her great-granddaughters, Teddie Sauer and Jose Sauer; and her great-grandsons, Chase Georges, Brandon Georges and Luka Sahaidachny.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, 105 W. Third St., Peru, with the Rev. Father Douglas Hungerford officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery in Peru.
Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. today and one hour before services Monday at the funeral home.
