Joyce P. Smith, 86, formerly of Logansport, passed away at 6:55 a.m. Sunday, March 17, 2013, in Hickory Creek at Rochester Nursing Home.
Born April 9, 1926, she was the daughter of Arthur and Pearl Klise Hensell.
On March 1, 1943, in Peru, she was married to Howard S. Smith, who preceded her in death on Aug. 20, 1987.
Joyce had been a secretary at Logansport State Hospital, and was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed traveling.
Surviving are a daughter, Peggy (William) Walker, Rochester; grandchildren, Scott (Kim) Walker, Mike (Stacee) Walker, Renee Doktorczyk, Jeff Walker, and Dr. Timothy (Heather)Walker; 14 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Bonnie Smith Walker, and brothers, Richard Hensell and Robert Hensell.
The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, March 21, 2013, at Kroeger Funeral Home, with Pastor Sandy Hutchens officiating.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Rock Creek Cemetery.
