Barbara J. Gast

KEWANNA — Barbara J. Gast, 84, Kewanna, passed away at 8:06 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012, at Life Care Center of Rochester.

Born March 10, 1928, in Peru, she was the daughter of the late Arvin and Hazel Greer Carr. On July 8, 1970, she married Jon S. Gast, he survives.

She was a 1946 Kewanna High School graduate.

Barb formerly worked at Switches in Leiters Ford and also Hart-Schaffner Marx in Rochester. She also provided childcare for many children over the years.

She was a member of Kewanna United Methodist Church.  

Barb enjoyed bowling, cooking, crocheting and especially spending time with her grandchildren. Barb also loved music.

Survivors include husband, Jon Gast, of Kewanna; sons, Richard “Rick” Weller and wife, Belinda, of LaPorte, and Donald R. Weller of Georgia; daughters, Randy Neidig and husband, Steve, of Bourbon, Cora Lynn Clemans and husband, Howard, of Kewanna, and Angela Scott and husband, Glen, of Shipshewana; sister, Betty Leazenby, of Tuscon, Ariz.; and brother, Donald Carr and wife, Mary Lou, of Lady Lake, Fla. She is also survived by grandchildren, Brent Wagoner, Chad Weller, Megan Gimlin, Doug Sutton, Kim Sutton, and Donnie Weller; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by sister, Bea Ann Clark; and granddaughter, Missy Weller.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Kewanna United Methodist Church with the Rev. Todd Wilson officiating.  

Visitation will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Harrison-Metzger & Rans Funeral Home, Kewanna Chapel, and also one hour prior to the time of service at the church on Monday.

Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Lake Bruce.

Memorial contributions may be made to Kewanna United Methodist Church.
