William A. 'Woody' Woodward Sr

CSM William A. “Woody” Woodward Sr., Ret., 79, Logansport, passed away at 2:10 a.m. Friday, March 12, 2010, in Howard Regional Health System, Kokomo.

Born Feb. 26, 1931, in Danielson, Conn., he was the son of John and Mildred Conrad Woodward. He was married on June 1, 1952, in Walton, to Lois E. Baker, who survives in Logansport.

Woody served for 42 years in the Indiana National Guard. He was a life member of VFW Post 3790, and past commander of the Rensselaer VFW Post. He was also a member of Walton American Legion Post 418.

He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church.

Woody was a 32nd Degree member of Tipton Masonic Lodge, a member of Scottish Rite, and Logansport Shrine Club. He enjoyed traveling and woodworking, the out-of-doors and camping, and he loved to cook and being with his family.

Surviving along with his wife are one son, Bill Jr. (Missy) Woodward, Logansport; two sisters, Gertrude (Keith) Guy, Logansport, and Audrey (Francis) Olson, Milford; five grandchildren, Danielle (Aaron) Lewark, Andrew Buckley, Hannah Woodward, Emma Woodward and Seth Woodward; one great-grandson, Parker Lewark; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Beth Ann Woodward; grandson, Michael Buckley; and a brother, Guy Woodward.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Kroeger Funeral Home with Father Theodore Neidlinger officiating.

Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Burial, with full military honors, will be in Walton IOOF Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Episcopal Church.
