Alan L. Williams

Alan L. Williams, 56, Galveston, passed away at 10:04 a.m. Thursday, March 11, 2010, after a long, hard courageous battle with cancer.

He was born June 6, 1953, in Logansport. His parents, Margaret and Charles “Mike” Campbell survive in Monticello. On Aug. 23, 1985, in Knoxville, Tenn., he married Tanna “Renee” Skaggs, and she survives.

Alan was a 1971 graduate of Lewis Cass High School. He retired in February 2008 from Chrysler with 34 years of service as a job-setter. He was a member of First Landmark Baptist Church in Kokomo and a member of the UAW 685.

Surviving along with his wife and parents are a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Shannon Williams, Peru; four daughters and sons-in-law, Michele Williams, Peru, Amy and Kris Schreckenghaust, Kokomo, Melissa VanVickle and her fiancé, Camron Shultze, Kokomo, and Khristal Williams and her fiancé, D’Wayne Williams, Indianapolis; 13 grandchildren, Trent, Trevor, Hunter, Keely and Sage Williams, Bret, Kameron, Katelyn and Madison Schreckenghaust, Jordan and Jalen Diskey, Sydney Perdue and Desiree Williams; one brother and sister-in-law, Jeff and Cindy Campbell, Reynolds; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Cheryl Vernon, Logansport, and Becky and Kevin Voigt, Shamong, N.J.; one brother-in-law and spouse, Darrell and Jeannie Skaggs, Brownsburg; three sisters-in-law and spouses, Alta and Bob Grady, Princeton, Ky., Glenda and Bob Easton, Burlington, and Joyce and Joe Clabaugh, Hanover, Pa.; his dog, Tia; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends also survive.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Williams; mother-in-law, Marie Dale; all of his grandparents; and several aunts and uncles.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Ellers Mortuary Webster Street Chapel, 3400 S. Webster St., with Pastor Bob Morphew officiating. Burial will follow at Galveston Cemetery.

Friends may visit with the family from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary.
