Charles “Bob” Robert Webster, 78, Greenwood, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012, at Community Hospital South, Indianapolis.
Bob was born on Dec. 13, 1933, to William H. and Nora B. (Riffle) Webster in Logansport. He graduated from Washington Township High School in 1953 in Cass County. His family and friends in and around Logansport remained an important part of his life. Bob was proud to serve his country in the Navy as a submariner from 1953 to 1957. Subsequently he became a member of the Greenwood American Legion Post 252 where he was a member of the Honor Guard and the Sub-Vets.
After serving in the Navy, Bob had a lifelong career with Bell Telephone (AT & T) and retired after over 30 years of service. Bob was a devout Christian whose faith guided him in every endeavor. His ministers became important friends shepherding him through life’s challenges. He was a gregarious man who felt blessed to have many friends. All were entranced by his stories. He was a member of The Pointe Church in Greenwood.
Bob’s wife, Ethelene (Robertson) Webster, and son, Brian Webster, preceded him in death. Six of Bob’s siblings preceded him in death: Howard Webster, Winston Webster, Mary Austin, Kathryn Davidson, Ralph Webster and Linda Webster. He is survived by a son, Timmy, and two sisters, Margaret Mathews, Fishers, and Dorie McDonald, Indianapolis, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
Services were at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Pointe Church, Greenwood. Full military honors were rendered after the service. Burial will be at a later date at Ever Rest Memorial Park Cemetery, Logansport.
Visitation was at 2 p.m. until the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Legion, Post 252, Honor Guard, attention: Bob Tuttle, 334 South U.S. 31, Greenwood IN 46142 or to the Pointe Church, 4336 Blue Spruce Court, Greenwood IN 46143.
Swartz Family Church and Chapel–Funeral and Cremation Services, Greenwood, is handling the arrangements.
