Kenneth Heishman

LOGANSPORT — Kenneth Heishman, 84, Logansport, passed away at 7:18 p.m. Friday, Aug. 3, 2012, in Chase Center.

Born Jan. 25, 1928, in Reynolds, he was the son of Guy and Cora Katherine Smith Heishman.

On Dec. 31, 1947, in Logansport, he was married to Deloris (Dee) Shaver, who preceded him in death Jan. 15, 1995.

A 1946 graduate of Metea High School, he served in the U.S. Army in 1946 and 1947 in Japan. He attended Ball State University in 1948 and 1949. Kenneth began employment at North American Rockwell in 1950 and became supervisor of maintenance there in 1969, retiring in 1986.

He had been a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3790, American Legion Post 60 and Logansport Elks Lodge 66.

He enjoyed fishing and being on the water with family and grandchildren; and working in his garden and garage.

Surviving are a daughter, Katherine “Kat” (Ron) Gordon, Logansport; son, Kim (Shelli) Heishman, Bloomington; seven grandchildren, Jill Heishman, Seattle; Jessica Kerns, Ithaca, N.Y.; Kassi Kerns, Baltimore; Kimberly Gordon, Chicago; Kelly Gordon, Kokomo; Joshua Heishman, Bloomington; and Katelyn Heishman, Bloomington; a sister, Annise Severns, Akron; former daughter-in-law, Jan Smith, South Carolina; and many nieces and nephews.

Also surviving are his very special friend, Betty Wright, Logansport, and caregivers Helen Hardy, Betty Hardy and Judy Baber.

Preceding him in death were a son, Denny Heishman; six brothers, Roscoe, Willard, Howard, Edgar, Guy Jr. and Forrest; and three sisters, Geneva, Evaline and Marguerite.

We will celebrate his life with a gathering of friends and family from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Kroeger Funeral Home. Private burial with full military honors preceded the celebration.
