Rosella A. Shields, 90, Indianapolis, formerly of Pulaski, passed away at 1:30 p.m. on Aug. 17, 2012, at Greentree Assisted Living in Indianapolis.
Born Jan. 1, 1922 in Pulaski, she was the daughter of Jacob Berger and Rose Winters Berger. Rosella was married to William F. Shields on June 16, 1945, and he passed away on May 14, 1994.
Rosella was a 1940 graduate of Pulaski High School, and worked as a claims examiner for Fort Harrison for 12 years, until retiring in 1987. She was a member of Holy Spirt Catholic Church, Indianapolis, for many years.
Rosella is survived by a daughter, Martha L. (David) Mark, Indianapolis; a grandson, Theodore S. (Laura) Welage, Greenfield; a brother; Raymond (Charlotte) Berger, Star City; and a sister, Dorothy Keller, Monterey.
She was preceded in death by her father, Jacob Berger; her mother, Rose Winters Berger; her husband, William F. Shields; two sons, Theodore Shields and Robert Shields; two daughters, Molly Shield and Theresa Welage; two sisters, Catherine Allen and Elizabeth Shedrow; and two brothers, Donald Berger and Arthur Berger.
A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pulaski, with Rev. Ronald Schiml officiating.
Burial will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery South, Pulaski. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Frain Mortuary.
A Scriptural Wake Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
