William A. ‘Bill’ Veach

Dear Creek — William A. Veach, 73, Deer Creek, departed this mortal coil at 12:43 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013, from his residence.

He began his earthly journey Sept. 4, 1939, in Bloomington. He was the son of Ivan and Evylan (McGlothlin) Veach. He graduated from Camden High School in 1957. He retired from Chrysler Corp.’s Kokomo Transmission Plant in 1993.

He was quite a guy. He enjoyed motorcycle riding, old cars, football, NASCAR and practical jokes. He was a charter member of the Idlers Car Club. He did volunteer work and attended Deer Creek Presbyterian Church. He was a member of Mt. Zion Lodge #211 F&AM, Center Chapter Order of Eastern Star, Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis, Murat Shrine and the Logansport Shrine Club.  

He dearly loved his family and is survived by his wife, Mickie; son, Dennis (Angie) Veach, Deer Creek; stepsons Doug (Diana) White, Deer Creek, and Lowell (Lorrie) White, Kokomo; three brothers, Glen (Karen) Veach, Ft. Myers, Fla., Roy (Roxie) Veach, Burrows, and Sam (Sue) Veach, Bringhurst; one sister Martha (Bill) Powell, Galveston; and a good friend, Sheila Overton, who he called “Little Sis;” one grandson, Johnathan Veach, Ft. Bliss, Texas; step-grandsons, Gabriel White, Orlando, Fla., and Nathan Berkshire, Deer Creek; granddaughter Stacy (Jon) Scowden, Yeoman; step granddaughters Jessica (Craig) Babbs, Kokomo, and Victoria White, Kokomo. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Joe.

Visitation will be 2 to 9 p.m. today at Cree Funeral Home. Eastern Star services will be at 7 p.m., Masonic services will be at 7:30 p.m. and the Shrine Processional will be at 8 p.m.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with Pastors Dave Herron and Ron Greene officiating. Interment will be in Camden Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, it is requested that donations be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children. Bill truly loved the little people. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Cree Funeral Home, Camden, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
