LeRoy Robeson

LeRoy Robeson, Jr., 99, Carroll Manor, Delphi, died at 4:22 p.m. Monday, Jan. 28, 2013, at IU Arnett, Lafayette.

He was born Jan. 12, 1914, to the late Leroy and Anna Downham Robeson. On April 28, 1940, he married (Mildred) Charline Yeager at the Camden Baptist Church; she passed away Nov. 15, 2001.

LeRoy “Junior” farmed most of his life and was still running a combine at 96 years of age. He was Washington Township Trustee for several years. He served on the Carroll County School Board after it was first consolidated. Junior was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and served as a past president of the Council. He was also a past president of Rock Creek Cemetery.

Surviving are three sons, Maurice Robeson (Janalie), Flora, Lloyd Robeson (Saundra), Macungie, Penn., and Carl Robeson (Dottye), Camden; six grandchildren, Miriam Robeson Pickens, N.J., Michele Howard, Indianapolis, Renee Robeson, N.J., Eric Robeson, Penn., Kurt Robeson, N.J., and Todd Robeson, Okla.; nine great-grandchildren, Samantha, Benjamin and Caitlin Pickens, all of Flora, Anna and August Wallendal, both of N.J., Luke and Payt Robeson, both of Oklahoma, and Chase and Noah Robeson, both of New Jersey; one nephew, Kevin Robeson (Karen); niece, Annalea Robeson; great niece, Katrina Robeson; and great nephew, Kurtis Robeson.

In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Pauline Robeson; and one brother, Eldon Robeson.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Faith Lutheran Church, 6765 East 800 North, Logansport, IN, 46947. Burial will follow in Rock Creek Cemetery.

Visitation for Junior will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Genda Funeral Home Reinke Chapel, Flora.  

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Junior’s name may be made to Faith Lutheran Church of Logansport.
