Zera Dean Johnson

KOKOMO — Zera Dean Johnson, 83, Kokomo, died at 10:45 p.m. Monday, Feb. 25, 2013, at Northwoods Village Nursing Home, Kokomo.     

Born April 11, 1929, in Green County, Ind. to James Rose and Ethel (Tribell) Rose. She married William Dillard Johnson Sr. on Feb. 1 1947, in Meldrum, Ky. He preceded in death June, 24, 1981.

She worked at Accurate Parts and served as union steward for several years retiring in 1988. She was affiliated with UAW #292.

Zera was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her smiling face will be greatly missed and remembered by many. She enjoyed gardening and mowing her lawn. She also enjoyed traveling and people, she never met a stranger.

Survivors include, daughter, Rosetta and husband Jan Cohee, Bringhurst, son, Michael Johnson, Tucson, Ariz., grandchildren, Angela (John) Johnson, Camden, Brian (Katherine) Cohee, Burlington, great-grandchildren, Brent Johnson, Erika Johnson, Evan Cohee and Paige Cohee, sister, Patty Harrington, and brother, Donald Rose.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Ethel Rose, her husband, William Dillard Johnson Sr., one son William Dillard Johnson Jr., four sisters and three brothers,

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Murray Weaver Funeral Home, Galveston, with Rev. John Newman officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memory Gardens, Kokomo.

Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday at Murray Weaver Funeral Home.

The family would like to thank Senior Sitters and Northwoods Village staff for their care of Zera.
