Conservatives must take action
Please consider this letter a call for action to the “too long silent, moral, conservative majority” in north central Indiana. After watching the dishonorable and unethical conduct of the U.S. Congress, I’m sure you are as outraged as I am. Both health care bills were written behind closed doors by a select few and then rammed through Congress against the wishes of a large majority of the American people. The Democratic Senator and Congressmen from Indiana were willing to support this unfavorable and fiscally irresponsible bill!
I believe President Obama showed his true character when he lied to us about putting the health care debate on CNN.
I believe our present Congress with their runaway spending and under the table buying of votes will prove to be the most corrupt Congress in the history of the United States of America!
We must do a better job of selecting our candidates. We must select candidates of integrity and high moral character!

Historical society appreciates support
This newspaper reported that a fire at the Bartholomew County Historical Society in Columbus resulted in the loss of as many as 75,000 of their historical collection’s items!
As a museum Curator and Director, I read this account with horror as images of Cass County’s historical treasures swirled around in my mind and the words “what if it had been us” found their way into my thoughts. I thought about the very first piano ever to be in Logansport. It is in our museum. The piano traveled here on the Wabash River to be delivered to the LaSelle family and people came from all over town to hear its beautiful music. General John Tipton’s sword and personal trunk also came to mind. And the George Winter paintings! It was almost too much to think about. And I have only mentioned nine items! CCHS has much more than 75,000 items, as did Bartholomew County Historical Society.
CCHS has an excellent fire and police protection alarm system through Koorsen Fire & Security. The society’s membership dues and donations from local businesses, organizations and the general public of the community help to pay the expense of this protection. It is money well spent. This seemed like the perfect opportunity to remind all supporters of the museum how much that support is appreciated and needed.
