I am of the understanding that there is a prediction that the world is coming to an end again soon. This is because of some calendar that will not go any further. Well, there have also been predictions from groups in the past about the end of the world.
I have had discussion with members of one group as to what they think they are going to accomplish by making such predictions. First of all, if you believe in the Bible, you know the consequences of making such a prediction. It is very clear. Right? Second, I don’t see Bible believers making those predictions because of such consequences. My best guess as to why they do this is in some twisted way they think it adds creditability to their cause and as to any other reason I am totally lost as to what it may be.
Now, stay with me on this, OK? The question I have ask these non-believers is just what are you trying to accomplish by making such a prediction because if you are right, no one will be alive to pat you on the back for your correct prediction and if you are wrong everyone will still be around to tell you how stupid you were to predict it. It seems to me it’s a non-winner either way.
So, here is the zinger. I am going to go out on a limb and predict here and now that the world will not come to an end every time these people predict it will. Now, if I am wrong, you will all be dead, and there will be no one to tell me how stupid I was, and if I am right, everyone will still be alive to tell me how wise I was. Boy, I’m so good, and it looks to me like I can’t lose! I can’t wait for all the pats on the back I am going to receive! I am not a betting man but I am so sure of my prediction and the wisdom that went into that prediction that I should book reservations to Vegas the day after. My newfound wisdom will make me rich. Oh, I forgot. I don’t gamble. Oh well, if I’m wrong I don’t suppose I’ll have to worry about canceling my reservations.
