Pharos-Tribune

Newspaper failed to list graduates

I realize that this may seem a little late, and it probably is, but the more I thought about it, the more frustrated I became. I graduated from Ivy Tech in May, and I waited and searched diligently everyday for the Pharos-Tribune to publish the names of the graduates, but they were never published.

I called the newspaper and left messages three different times, and only once did my phone call get returned. The lady told me that she received the dean’s list and the names of the graduates and that they would be in the Sunday Lifestyle section. The dean’s list was in the Lifestyle section, but no graduates.

Throughout the summer, I saw lists of graduate’s names from almost every college in Indiana and even some outside the state, except Ivy Tech. Isn’t Ivy Tech the community college of Indiana, and isn’t there one located in Logansport?

I can relate to the lady that had written to the Public Forum over the summer in regards to the paper not publishing all of the Cass County fair results, but were publishing the Pulaski County fair results.  I may be mistaken, but I am pretty sure that the Pharos-Tribune is the paper for the community of Logansport and all of Cass County.

I am disappointed and disheartened of this newspaper’s refusal to publish Ivy Tech’s graduates. The Kokomo Tribune published the names of the graduates and my name was in there, but unfortunately I don’t live in Kokomo to have received that newspaper.

I have asked others if they have seen the graduate’s names in the Logansport’s Pharos-Tribune and no one I have asked has seen the names in there. Also, it is not just myself that is upset by this, but I have heard several other people make comments as to why their son, daughter, friend or mom’s name was never published. I would ask that the names of the graduates from Ivy Tech be published. Thank you.
