City needs tougher dog regulations
I read in the papers where our council and mayor are wasting our tax dollars on the issue of signs and other means that don’t protect our children’s safety.
Months ago we had an aggressive dog bite two of our teen children. And after I spoke to the mother of the little girl, I found that this dog has bitten before. In total, the dog bit four people, two in Kokomo and two in Logansport.
I approached the city council on this issue. I even went as far as submitting my thoughts to where the ordinance should be amended.
I was told that “right now, we are focused on the budget.” Well, council, you have finished the budget. So what is your reason of not focusing on our children's safety and making stiffer penalties for those who choose to own an aggressive animal that endangers our children and others? Did you put this on the “back burner” to pick on the businesses that you don’t agree with on their signs or some other silly issue?
I feel that the safety of our children is more important. I asked before, what will it take, a child getting seriously hurt? Now I ask each and every council member and the mayor, what are you waiting for? The death of a child by an aggressive animal, before each of you act on it?
