PUBLIC FORUM: Stebbins deserves voters’ support

— Please vote for George Stebbins for Cass County Council at-large. As a fellow Republican with 83 years of wisdom, I can say that voting for the entire Republican ticket between now and Election Day will be one of the wisest decisions you will ever make. In these hard times we need an experienced fiscal conservative like George Stebbins who since his appointment to county council just 20 months ago is not only the current council president but has helped make the difficult but necessary decisions to work within a strained budget and do what is best for Cass County.

He is not afraid to say cut.  He is on record today in the online Pharos Tribune stating that “substantial cuts were made and 18 positions eliminated.” As a taxpayer myself, we should only pay for what is needed like here at home. George Stebbins has gained his experience as a small businessman and knows how to keep a business running and people employed. The best quote today online in the Pharos-Tribune is “he said the council needs to work to bring in more businesses to help strengthen the county tax base.” As a Republican again, I have only witnessed depressions and recessions end through growth in business, which results in increased employment then increased demand then increased wages followed by increase in tax revenue. Then the budget deficit drops like a rock as long as someone does not spend it, or print more of it. I think George understands this.

George Stebbins is a good family man. He has a wife and a daughter who both work. George is always available to help, give a hand or jump in and just do something that needs done. This is why the Cass County Republican Women have awarded him with our first ever Man of the Year Award. I believe without any hesitation that George Stebbins is a good, compassionate man who absolutely has the business, financial and political skills to deserve our vote for Cass County Council at-large but also has an energetic vision for the economic growth of Cass County and a genuine concern for the well-being of our people and families.
