A domestic dispute that spilled into the street Wednesday evening left a woman bleeding and a man stabbed in the back.
At 5:19 p.m., Logansport police responded to a report of a vehicle crash and fight in progress on Brown Street just west of the Glen R. Hosier Bridge.
Upon arrival, police discovered a GMC pickup truck crashed into an Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera parked on Brown Street. A woman later identified as 41-year-old Kimberly A. Sims of Logansport had suffered a cut on the hand. Police calmed Sims, who was visibly shaken, according to the police report.
Officers talked to a witness as well as 38-year-old Samuel Landis of Logansport, the driver of the truck. He had several cuts and scratches on his face.
Police say Sims and Landis apparently began fighting while Landis was driving down the road. Landis said Sims was hitting him as he tried to drive and that she tried to jerk the steering wheel as it crossed the bridge. The truck went out of control and crashed into the parked vehicle.
Sims is accused of picking up a piece of glass from a broken Mason jar and stabbing Landis in the back. Sims suffered a large gash on her hand, and Landis suffered a puncture wound, according to police.
Landis told police Sims became angry because she wanted him to help her plant flowers in the yard and he wanted to go fishing.
Sims was charged with battery with a deadly weapon, criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon, domestic battery and criminal recklessness involving a vehicle.
She was held without bond this morning in the Cass County Jail awaiting a court appearance.
Both Sims and Landis required stitches for their injuries.
