18-year-old arrested on child molest charge

An 18-year-old Logansport resident was arrested Thursday on a charge of child molest for an alleged sexual act that occurred at the Berry Patch.

William H. Reed was booked into the Cass County Jail at 5:14 p.m. The incident, which involved a 13-year-old female, allegedly happened Tuesday.

Detective Brad Miller of the Logansport Police Department investigated. Reed reportedly told Miller that he was friends with the victim. Miller said as far as the law is concerned, anytime someone 18 years of age or older has sex with anyone 13 or younger, it is considered child molest.

Reed, who is not a Logansport High School student, was released on $2,000 bond Friday afternoon, a correction officer said.
