Berries zip past Zebras on senior night

The Logansport Berries say they’re ready for the sectional, and they sure looked it on Friday night.

Jayson Higgins scored 29 points, and Antonio Penny fell just short of a triple-double in the Berries’ 69-45 win over Rochester on senior night.

Higgins added to his state lead in 3-point baskets by hitting 6 of 11 from beyond the arc. He was 8 of 14 from the field overall and 5 of 5 from the foul line.

Penny finished with 17 points, nine rebounds, seven assists and two steals. He threw down a rim-rattling one-handed dunk in the fourth quarter.

All six of the Berry seniors contributed, as they have all season. In addition to Higgins and Penny, Bo Bullard had six points, Nate Bullard had five points and five boards, Todd Yeoman scored four points and Jacob Snow pulled down seven rebounds.

Junior Andrew Wamsley added eight points.

Logansport (12-8) will face the winner of McCutcheon vs. Harrison next Friday night at the Lafayette Jeff Sectional.
